The Champlain Youth Justice Service Collaborative identified ‚Äúnavigating youth through various pathways to appropriate individualized supportive services‚ÄĚ as the system gap. The Service Collaborative expressed an interest in utilizing appropriate referral mechanisms that include informal supports to the youth and family, as well as building on existing service pathways within the Champlain region.
The Champlain Youth Justice Service Collaborative is implementing "Intersections." Intersections is an early intervention model that focuses on navigation and coordination of services for youth (ages 11 to 13) with suspected mental health and/or addictions issues, who are at risk of becoming justice involved, in order to improve well-being and reduce involvement with police services.
